ADMINISTRATION

Geoffrey R. Goyette
Vice President of Training & Development, Career Development Institute
NJ Certified Animal Control Officer, Former Animal Cruelty Investigator,
NJ Certified Emergency Manager

Mr. Goyette has spent almost 40 years managing private sector organizations from small start-ups to multi- national corporations including Xerox, ADP, Kronos and CA.  During his tenure with these organizations, he has lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, California, New York, Louisiana, and New Jersey. His efforts have been recognized throughout the business community with innumerable awards. The organizations that he managed were at various times number 1 in performance in the country.  His management responsibilities have included sales, client support & satisfaction, product delivery, marketing, multi-office management with P&L responsibility as well as recruiting, hiring, training, and motivating managers and individual contributors.

As an avocation, Mr. Goyette simultaneously spent 5 years as a Major League Baseball Player Agent, negotiating contracts for professional baseball players while continuing his successful full time management position with ADP.  Among his achievements as a sports agent, he was responsible for providing a solution, which stands today, to a contract dispute between players and MLB who felt that they were being unfairly compensated by having to pay both Canadian and US taxes while playing for the Canadian Major League baseball teams.

Mr. Goyette retired from the business world and decided to follow his true vocation and love, working with animals. He became certified by the state of New Jersey as an Animal Control Officer and Animal Cruelty Investigator. He has worked as an Animal Control Officer as well as Animal Control & Shelter manager. He co-founded an all volunteer 501c3 organization that worked predominantly with the a municipal shelter to exercise, assess, train, and match the large breed and more difficult to adopt dogs and cats. Success has been measured by the fact that the shelter developed a no-kill philosophy and no healthy animals have been euthanized. As Vice President of Training & Development for Career Development Institute (CDI), Mr. Goyette instructs multiple classes in the NJ Certified Animal Control Course and the Humane Law Enforcement Officer Courses. He also instructs Health Officers and REHS’ in the Animals In Public Heath Course and individuals in a Pet First Aid course. Mr. Goyette serves as the Bureau Chief for the Middlesex County Animal Response Team (CART) which has responded to a number of disasters like Hurricane Sandy as well as is a member of the NJ State Animal Response Team. He is certified as a New Jersey Emergency Manger as well as being certified in Human Search and Rescue as a SARTEC II. Mr. Goyette has numerous other certifications including that of being a NJ Police Training Commission Instructor. In 2011, Mr. Goyette was recognized by the United Way as a “Hometown Hero” for his volunteer work with animals.

Mr. Goyette’s teaching partner was a state and nationally recognized certified therapy dog named Belle, a golden retriever. Together they have made hundreds of visits to nursing homes, senior centers, libraries and schools bringing smiles to all who spend time with them. In 2014 Belle was the 100th animal in 20 years inducted into the NJ Veterinary Medical Association Animal Hall of Fame. Belle passes away in 2017.

During his “spare” time, Mr. Goyette has served as a big brother, advocate & volunteer with the poor, children’s sports coach, charitable fund raiser, and dog behaviorist.

One humorous aside to Mr. Goyette’s career…..while in college at Marquette University, working towards his BS in Psychology….he fulfilled a boyhood dream by working on the railroad as an “over the road” brakeman & conductor riding trains. After college he was selected to be in charge of a “back ward” in a county psychiatric hospital supervising patient care on a “locked” all male ward of 50 patients. He believes this experience more than prepared him for his successful business career.

Above all, Mr. Goyette is extremely proud to be close to two grown, happily married daughters, and four grandchildren.

He currently lives with Anna, a 9 year old mixed breed Terrier dog that he rescued at 5 weeks old.
